The absolute highlight of the Rijksmuseum's Asian Pavilion are two, more than life-size, wooden temple guards. With their expressive eyes and repelling hands, their task is clear at a glance: they keep evil out.

This sculpture is made from Neolith, a resin with a stone aggregate, giving it the feel of real stone. The finish consists of high-quality acrylic lacquers. The base colour is spray-applied, and the patina is added by hand using various patination techniques. As a result, each piece has a unique and characterful finish.

This replica is a small version of one of the two Japanese temple guards in the Rijksmuseum.
