Joan Miró at the Rijksmuseum

‘May my sculptures be confused with elements of nature, so that they blend into the landscape.’ How apt for an exhibition in the Rijksmuseum gardens. Miró compared his approach to his work with a gardener’s. He kept on ‘grubbing’ with chance-found objects until he had achieved a flourishing composition. With their incongruous combinations and seemingly careless constructions, Miró’s figures bring the Spanish sun to the Rijksmuseum gardens this summer.
