Jacob Marrel (1614-1681) made a significant contribution to the development of floral still-life painting in both Dutch and German art with his refined compositions. His works are widely admired for their meticulous attention to detail and vibrant appearance. Additionally, Marrel was a mentor to Maria Sibylla Merian, who became one of the most renowned female artists of her time.
