The Dutch East India Comapny (VOC) came to Si Lanka to help the king of Kandy fight the Portuguese. After they were expelled in 1658 the VOC did not leave. Based on the Rijksmuseum collection, historian and Sri Lanka expert Lodewijk Wagenaar tells the story of one and a half century of Sri Lankan-Dutch history. Foreword by Nira Wickramasinghe. English language edition published in the Rijksmuseum "Countries Series" in association with Vantilt. This series was awarded 'Best Dutch Book Design' 2015.
