After a quality check, approximately 250 Rijksmuseum logo bags were misprinted. In order to find a solution to not destroy this batch due to small imperfections, we found a way to upcycle this. In collaboration with Boro Atelier, the rejected bags have been upcycled into a new limited edition!
Natural indigo dye
The bags are hand-dyed with natural indigo. Each unique bag has its own shade of blue, varying from dark to light blue. The batch is numbered in consecutive order of the dye bath. Each bag is a different shade of blue and has its unique number.
Social & local
Boro is a Japanese philosophical concept: “use everything and waste nothing”. That is the mission of Amsterdam-based Boro Atelier, where the bags have been dyed locally. Boro Atelier employs people with a distance to the labour market to reintegrate into society.
Washing instructions
For optimal colour retention, it is better not to wash the bag at all. If you do want to wash it, please do this via a cold hand wash. Do not wash together with other garments or textiles.
